Four rules we did not bend
Written down in the repository's decision log, and visible in how the product behaves.
The document is the truth
Stock levels and account balances are both derived, never typed. A number you cannot trace to a document is a number nobody can defend six weeks later.
One path for every change
The portal, the API, imports, transfers and corrections all go through the same movement service. Behaviour that only holds on one path is not behaviour you can rely on.
Boring infrastructure
PostgreSQL, and that is the list. Jobs, realtime and rate limiting all live in the database, so there is one thing to run, back up and restore.
Say what it does not do
This does not replace Tally, it does not forecast demand, and it will not fix a catalogue nobody maintains. Being clear about that is how the projects that do start well.
